It is a known fact that well-informed patients make better health decisions. Very few of us are exposed to and follow a truly healthy lifestyle. The word "health" itself is used rather loosely often meaning absence of disease or symptoms. However, the true meaning of "health" is a state in which everything is functioning at 100%. That is precisely why we practice "functional medicine" because its aim is to discover the true cause(s) of whatever is ailing you and to restore balance and function with natural approaches. Your body must actually malfunction first before it gets to the point of disease.

Functional tests, some of which can be performed by you, the patient, are designed to find what is actually causing imbalances in the body as opposed to traditional tests that look for disease or pathology. Once the cause or causes of malfunction have been identified, a corrective care program will be recommended by the doctor.
